Dear Friends,

Traumatic brain injury, often called the silent epidemic, affects over five million Americans and is the number one killer of youth in the U.S.  The fact that constant medical advances are being made is improving the likelihood of survival---including our veterans serving in Iraq.  This means CABIA is faced with increasing responsibility and challenges as we seek to improve the quality of life for survivors and their devastated family members.

Our mission at CABIA is dedicated to providing information in our community to prevent brain injuries and increase awareness.  Also our five active support groups are the heart of our organization providing emotional, educational and recreational support for survivors and their families.  Last year CABIA served over 120 in the Chattanooga area helping them adapt to challenges that divide their lives into before and after traumatic brain injury.

Community support is vital to our programs, and we’d like to ask you to consider a gift at year end supporting the Chattanooga Area Brain Injury Association. Please also reserve the date of Friday, February 1, 2008 for our first fundraiser luncheon, “Navigating Life’s MINDfields.”  Our speaker will be the Reverend Dr. Jeff Sledge, also a brain injury survivor.

Sincerely,

Kathy Wilder

Development Committee Chairperson
