CABIA's Support Groups
Connection. Education. Encouragement.

Brain Injury Survivor Support Group
CABIA’s Brain Injury Survivor Support Group is for survivors living with brain injury who may be experiencing issues such as forgetfulness, processing challenges, aphasia or communication changes, personality or behavior changes, sleep problems, seizures, fatigue, or other effects of brain injury.
This group offers opportunities for:

-
Peer support and survivor-to-survivor connection.
-
Brain injury education, wellness, and resources.
-
Community events and activities.
-
Presentations from professionals who support recovery.
Topics may include: memory issues, executive functioning, nutrition for brain injury, access to care, sleep disturbances, relationships, understanding brain injury, and professional question-and-answer sessions.
Some survivor support group meetings include educational presentations at the Family Justice Center. Other meetings may include community-based activities or special events.
Virtual Access
CABIA is working to offer virtual access for some Brain Injury Survivor Support Group meetings when appropriate. Virtual access may be available for facility-based educational meetings, but may not be available for community outings or activity-based meetings.
Please contact CABIA before each meeting if you are interested in attending virtually.
Caregiver & Family Support Group
CABIA’s Caregiver & Family Support Group is for family members, caregivers, loved ones, and support persons of someone with a brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, neurological condition, serious injury, disability, or other life-changing medical condition.
This group is intentionally broad so caregivers in our community can connect across many different needs and conditions.
You do not have to be caring for someone with a brain injury to attend. All caregivers and families are welcome.
This group offers:
-
Encouragement from other caregivers
-
A place to talk openly and feel less isolated
-
Practical resource information and next steps
-
Support for the whole family, not just the diagnosis
The Caregiver & Family Support Group is co-sponsored and co-led by CABIA and 1st Priority Care.
Which Group Should I Attend?
Survivors living with brain injury are invited to attend the Brain Injury Survivor Support Group.
Caregivers, family members, loved ones, and support persons are invited to attend the Caregiver & Family Support Group.
Both groups meet at the same time and location in separate spaces, so survivors and caregivers may each receive support that fits their needs.
